Congratulations Paula: Distinction in Level 5 Operations Manager Apprenticeship

SI Protech blog cover: Level 5 Distinction for Paula

We’re delighted to share that Paula Felicio, Quality Manager at SI Protech (UK) Ltd, has achieved a Distinction in her Level 5 Operations Manager Apprenticeship.

Well done Paula – we are all very proud of you.

Two years of hard work

Over the last two years, Paula has balanced her role leading quality at SI Protech with study, building a portfolio, completing workplace projects and preparing for her End-Point Assessment. It’s a demanding combination, and achieving the highest grade available is a fantastic reflection of her dedication and determination.

In Paula’s own words, the experience has helped her grow both professionally and personally – and the Distinction makes all the hard work and sacrifices worthwhile.

What the Level 5 Operations Manager Apprenticeship covers

The Level 5 Operations or Departmental Manager apprenticeship is designed for people who manage teams, projects and operational performance. It develops skills across areas such as:

  • Leading and developing people
  • Operational planning and performance management
  • Project management and continuous improvement
  • Finance, resource management and decision-making
  • Communication and stakeholder relationships

The programme ends with an independent End-Point Assessment, where apprentices demonstrate their knowledge, skills and behaviours through their portfolio, project work and professional discussion.

Why it matters for quality

As Quality Manager, Paula plays a central role in the systems our customers rely on – from our ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 22000 certifications to internal audits, inspection and continuous improvement. Strong operational management skills help turn those systems into everyday practice across production, quality and R&D.

For customers in the beverage, pharmaceutical, personal care and automotive sectors, that translates into consistent quality, robust traceability and a team that is always looking for ways to improve.

Apprenticeships at every level

Apprenticeships are often associated with people starting out in their careers, but they are just as valuable for experienced professionals stepping up into leadership. Higher-level programmes like this one combine structured learning with real workplace projects, so the benefits are felt in the business straight away – not just when the certificate arrives.

At SI Protech, we support learning at every stage, from welcoming young people for work experience and apprenticeships to helping experienced team members gain recognised management qualifications. Each route strengthens the skills and knowledge our customers depend on.

Investing in our people

At SI Protech, we believe our people are our greatest strength. Paula’s achievement is part of a wider culture of learning across the business – from internal polymer training sessions and apprenticeships to specialist training with partners such as ARBURG.

Developing skills in-house means knowledge stays in the business, grows over time and is shared with colleagues. It’s one of the most effective ways we can keep raising standards for the customers we serve.

Thank you

Paula has thanked the many people who supported her along the way, including her colleagues at SI Protech, her manager Vasco Miguel, her tutor and PETA Training and Consultancy, who delivered the apprenticeship.

Congratulations again, Paula. We’re excited to see what comes next.
