When demand changes, manufacturing needs to respond.
For our customers, manufacturing is about having a production partner who can support changing requirements while maintaining reliable output. A product launch, a new contract, a seasonal peak or a change in specification can all put pressure on the supply chain – and the right partner makes that pressure manageable.
Why scalability matters
For businesses sourcing manufacturing partners, scalability can make the difference between meeting demand and being constrained by it. A supplier that can only produce at one volume, or needs months to ramp up, can quickly become a bottleneck.
Scalable manufacturing means being able to:
- Support low-volume pilot runs and launches
- Ramp up smoothly to full production
- Respond to peaks and changes in forecast
- Maintain consistent quality at every volume
What makes injection moulding scalable
At SI Protech (UK) Limited, our injection moulding capability supports efficient production across varying requirements and volumes. That flexibility comes from several things working together.
Flexible manufacturing capability
Our ARBURG machine fleet spans 30 to 370 tonnes, now including a new 630H 250-tonne machine with six-axis robot automation. A common machine platform makes it easier to move tools, settings and expertise between machines when demand shifts.
Efficient production processes
Validated processes, automation and statistical process control keep cycle times efficient and output consistent, so higher volumes don’t come at the expense of quality.
Capacity to grow
We operate from a 28,000 sq ft facility in Littlehampton, running 24 hours a day, five to seven days a week, with white-room assembly for food and drink related products. That gives us room to support customers as their requirements grow.
Quality at every volume
Scaling up only works if quality scales with it. Our manufacturing system is built around prevention rather than detection: we develop a capable process first, then maintain it throughout batch production. Our quality, environmental and food safety management systems are certified by BSI to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 22000, giving customers confidence that the thousandth batch will match the first.
From prototype to production
Scalability starts long before full production. Our design and development services – including 3D component design, fast prototyping and material consultancy – help ensure a product is ready to scale from day one, with tooling and processes designed for the volumes it will eventually need.
Planning for growth
If you expect your volumes to change, it pays to plan for it early. Sharing forecasts with your manufacturing partner, discussing multi-cavity or additional tooling options before they are needed, and agreeing how changes in demand will be communicated all help production respond smoothly. A good partner will work through these scenarios with you, so growth becomes an opportunity rather than a risk.
A partner that grows with you
